Senior Structural Engineer
Manteca, CA

Position Summary:

The Senior Structural Engineer’s responsibilities will include performing and managing simple and complex analysis, design and documentation of  structures, as well as conducting field investigation and construction phase observation. In addition, the senior structural engineer is responsible for the design, approvals, and maintenance of the preapproved (PC) plans. To include but not limited to the structural design, architectural detailing, access compliance, Title 24 energy/CalGreen, as well as fire life safety compliance. The Senior Structural Engineer will also direct subordinate staff and assist with business development activities.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm (flexibility required) 
Salary: $150k + DOE 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage and supervise a team of administrative, technical and professional staff to perform duties professionally, effectively, and efficiently. As well as developing and growing the talents and abilities of said roles.
  • Perform design and analysis functions for various structures
  • Attend meetings with clients, jurisdictional agencies, other professionals and organizations
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints
  • Issue reports, schedules, estimates of probable costs, responses to SOIs, RFPs
  • Manage, administer and design structural projects and structural components of non-structural projects.
  • Observe construction on site (As required) to comply with 1MR process.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Manages contractual commitments and coordinates consulting engineers including design, engineering, costs, quality, schedule, and field activities (If necessary)
  • Maintains quality of work in accordance with the standards specified in the design documents.
  • Reviews appropriate structural submittals to include rebar submittals, as well as concrete mix designs.
  • Maintains effective communications and coordination between the company and the design engineer to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Work with AMS production team to develop more efficient, and streamlined detailing

Qualifications

  • Valid Structural Engineering Licensure (S.E.) in California
  • Minimum of 10 years of project engineering and management experience
  • Well versed in Federal, State and Local regulatory and permitting requirements.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Master's degree preferred; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
