We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join our team. This critical role is designed for someone with a background in safety standards and a deep understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive safety programs, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Workplace Violence Prevention Program, and overall, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols. As part of the safety team, you will ensure that operations meet all regulatory requirements while fostering a safe work environment for employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with OSHA, state, federal, and utility-specific safety standards. This includes creating and maintaining the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP).
- Oversee all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and ensure the proper execution of safety protocols across all teams. Lead initiatives to identify safety risks and recommend improvements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, gaps in safety protocols, and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions and ensure ongoing compliance with utility-specific safety regulations.
- Develop and deliver specialized safety training programs
- Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, analyze root causes, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences. Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records for compliance purposes.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, and utility-specific safety requirements. Maintain accurate records of safety audits, inspections, training activities, and incident reports.
- Develop, update, and implement emergency response plans, including conducting drills for natural disasters, workplace accidents, and other emergency scenarios.
- Ensure the proper selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment. Educate staff on proper equipment use and ensure compliance.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to safety and HSE standards. Recommend and implement improvements to existing safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Education & Experience: 2-4 years of experience in safety program management, preferably in the utility or energy sector. Experience in developing and implementing IIPP, WVPP, and HSE programs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility-specific safety standards, and general health and safety practices. Familiarity with industry-specific safety requirements such as electrical, construction, or environmental hazards is an asset.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage employees at all levels and deliver effective training programs. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software. Familiarity with industry-specific safety management tools is a plus.
