The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payments for 1200+ employees, currently in California. The Payroll Manager is a key member of the accounting team, works closely with team members in satellite branches and ensures a high level of customer service to employees.


  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly payroll for temporary employees

  • Manage, develop, and mentor payroll team members by providing leadership, motivation and support

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

  • Maintain security of all payroll transactions and confidentiality of all payroll matters

  • Manage garnishments and other authority related employee adjustments as well as unemployment claims

  • Keep abreast of changes that impact payroll and timekeeping compliance

  • Review and analyze current payroll procedures and implement changes leading to best practice operations

  • Other duties and reporting as assigned to meet department and company requirements


  • Bachelor s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience, minimum five years payroll related work experience in a payroll leadership position

  • Advanced knowledge of payroll regulations including payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, ACA, CA break periods and sick pay

  • Demonstrated team leadership and mentorship abilities required

  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills

  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change

  • Ability to attract, develop and retain a competent and committed team

  • Proficiency in Payroll systems and Microsoft Professional Office Applications, including Excel, Word

  • Highly organized and dependable

  • Collaborative work style that ensures success of team, department and company

  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred
