Director of People Operations
Location: San Rafael, CA
Schedule: Full-time, 100% onsite
Salary: $120,000 to $132,000 annually, depending on experience
We are seeking an experienced and bilingual Director of People Operations to help lead the People Team and oversee HR operations for approximately 130 employees across administrative, warehouse, and production environments. This role will partner closely with senior leadership to strengthen company culture, improve HR processes, support employee development, and maintain compliance with California and federal employment regulations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader with strong manufacturing or non-exempt workforce experience. This person must be comfortable supporting employees at all levels while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee employee relations, performance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, separations, and leaves of absence
- Support compensation, payroll, benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, and employee development
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, training programs, and standard operating procedures
- Maintain HRIS data and use reporting and metrics to support business decisions
- Ensure compliance with federal, California, and local employment laws
- Coach managers and leaders on performance, employee development, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
- Oversee performance review and employee offboarding processes
- Partner with benefits brokers and third-party leave administrators
- Support workplace safety initiatives, incident investigations, safety training, and committee meetings
- Manage updates to the employee handbook and other HR documentation
- Lead and develop members of the People Team
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and positive workplace culture
- Partner with Finance on payroll, benefits, wage and hour compliance, and reporting
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- At least five years of leadership experience within an HR or People Operations department
- At least three years of general HR management experience, including employee relations
- Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws
- Previous experience supporting a manufacturing, warehouse, or primarily non-exempt workforce is strongly preferred
- Experience with HRIS platforms, HR reporting, and employee data management
- Payroll experience is preferred
- Strong coaching, communication, investigation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus
