Communication Coordinator

Location: Petaluma, CA
Temporary assignment, approximately 6 to 12 months
Pay: $28 to $30 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We are seeking a confident, friendly, and well-spoken Project Advocate to support a small-business advocacy organization. This position is ideal for someone with strong communication, networking, marketing, or public relations experience who is passionate about advocacy and building community relationships.

Responsibilities

• Clearly communicate the organization’s mission, goals, strategies, and initiatives.
• Represent an advocacy project focused on supporting women-owned businesses.
• Connect with women’s organizations, media representatives, public-interest groups, and government contacts.
• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with partner organizations and community groups.
• Draft social media posts, articles, outreach materials, and press releases.
• Respond to requests for information from individuals and organizations.
• Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or at least two years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident and professional when conducting outreach by phone, email, and in person.
• Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with media contacts, organizations, and public-interest groups.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
• Previous marketing or advocacy experience is preferred.
