Position Summary
The Cellar Crew I supports daily winery production under the direction of the Cellar Supervisor and Cellar Master. This entry-level role assists with wine production, harvest operations, equipment use, sanitation, and cellar maintenance while following safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with harvest, crush, fermentation, wine transfers, blending, filtration, racking, barrel work, and tank operations.
- Operate and connect pumps, hoses, filters, presses, crushers, and other cellar equipment.
- Safely operate forklifts, tractors, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when trained and authorized.
- Clean and sanitize tanks, hoses, barrels, pumps, and production equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and properly store equipment and materials.
- Follow production procedures to ensure wine quality and prevent contamination or product loss.
- Complete work orders, production records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Report equipment issues, spills, safety concerns, or production problems promptly.
- Work closely with cellar staff and other departments to complete daily production tasks.
- Follow all company safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 0–1 year of experience in a winery, manufacturing, agriculture, or production environment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow instructions in English; bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Comfortable working at heights and performing physically demanding work.
- Flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and shift changes during peak production.
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions, along with some warehouse duties.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and catwalks, and working in confined or low-light areas.
- Moderate noise levels in a production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, push, pull, bend, squat, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
- Good vision, depth perception, color recognition, and ability to detect odors.
