Job Description
Star Staffing is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist Department Manager to join a stable and innovative local manufacturer. This position involves programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines while ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, technical expertise, and a proactive attitude.
$30-$43hr
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the schedule and procedures of the Machine Department.
- Program and operate CNC machines to produce products from drawings, following established procedures with minimal supervision.
- Perform set-ups on various CNC machines.
- Demonstrate proficiency with G & M codes.
- Edit CNC programs to accommodate tool and design changes.
- Set up and operate manual lathes and mills.
- Utilize and demonstrate knowledge of all measuring equipment.
- Edit and verify first article component runs for accuracy.
- Resolve and optimize variations in material removal rates.
- Operate all equipment in a prudent and safe manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
- Perform machine tool preventative maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with others and be open to cross-training for different functions.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures throughout the department to improve product quality, reduce scrap/rework rates, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
- Technical school or vocational school training or a minimum of 4 years of machining experience.
- Background in plastics machining is a plus.

Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- SolidWorks, and FeatureCAM. A plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Motivated with strong follow-up skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
