Star Staffing is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist Department Manager to join a stable and innovative local manufacturer. This position involves programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines while ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, technical expertise, and a proactive attitude.

$30-$43hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the schedule and procedures of the Machine Department.
• Program and operate CNC machines to produce products from drawings, following established procedures with minimal supervision.
• Perform set-ups on various CNC machines.
• Demonstrate proficiency with G & M codes.
• Edit CNC programs to accommodate tool and design changes.
• Set up and operate manual lathes and mills.
• Utilize and demonstrate knowledge of all measuring equipment.
• Edit and verify first article component runs for accuracy.
• Resolve and optimize variations in material removal rates.
• Operate all equipment in a prudent and safe manner.
• Maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
• Perform machine tool preventative maintenance.
• Work collaboratively with others and be open to cross-training for different functions.
• Ensure compliance with quality procedures throughout the department to improve product quality, reduce scrap/rework rates, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience:
• Technical school or vocational school training or a minimum of 4 years of machining experience.
• Background in plastics machining is a plus.

• Skills:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
•  SolidWorks, and FeatureCAM. A plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Motivated with strong follow-up skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
