Star Staffing is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to take on a temporary role with a prominent business in Sacramento! Candidates do need to come with two years of Workday payroll experience and be comfortable working within Microsoft Excel. 

What you’ll do:

The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in the processing and maintaining of payroll and audits. Responsibilities could include reviewing timesheets, transcribing data, analyzing records, responding to employees’ inquiries, and general office duties.

Top responsibilities:

• Inputs, processes, and maintains payroll and tax data in the payroll system for hourly and salaried employees to produce payment of wages.

• Prepares, analyzes, and reviews payroll records and reports to produce payroll funding requests, deposit taxes, and distribute deductions withheld for each payroll period.

• Calculates earnings and maintains withholding status and deductions to process the payroll, including complex exception items such paid time off, terminations, and tax adjustments.

•  Provides assistance in payroll bank account reconciliation process. Coordinates with financial accounting personnel in preparation of journal entries to correct or adjust payroll general ledger accounts.

• Performs duties relating to the day to day maintenance and operation of the payroll system.

• Responds to employee inquiries and resolves related problems.

• Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Must Haves:

• Workday Payroll experience - 2 years minimum

• Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience

• Calculation/Accounting reconciliation knowledge
