Star Staffing is currently recruiting for temporary cellar workers to join a dynamic team at a local winery in Windsor, CA. In this position, you will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing cellar equipment, weighing and sorting grapes, and performing daily pump-overs during fermentation. Additional duties will include barrel filling and maintaining cellar organization. You will be expected to handle winery chemicals and additives properly while adhering to all safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize transfer pumps, lines, and filtration systems (Plate & Frame, Diatomaceous Earth, Cross Flow, and Membrane filters).
- Perform routine visual inspections of stainless-steel tanks, tanker trucks, and other equipment to determine cleaning needs.
- Follow established safety protocols and ensure all safety guidelines are understood and adhered to.
- Transfer wine, juice, must, water, and cleaning solutions using hoses and pumps, including attaching clamps and fittings to tanks and lines.
- Measure and add dry and liquid additives to wine/juice according to calculations and work order instructions.
- Use pumps and hoses to complete wine/juice additions to tanks and ensure proper mixing.
- Ensure proper manipulation of tank lids for cellar operations, including opening and closing tank tops.
- Operate cleaning equipment and tools to clean cellar floors, walls, tank pads, and catwalks.
- Hand scrub pumps, fittings, and miscellaneous equipment parts as needed.
- Sweep, rake, and maintain the cleanliness of winery floors and grounds, properly disposing of trash.
- Document work orders and follow instructions accurately.
- Operate a forklift to move and stack barrels, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a cellar or similar role.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document work accurately.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and walk on concrete surfaces.
- Reliable, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
- Must be able to follow all safety procedures and guidelines, especially when handling chemicals and additives.
- Ability to operate cleaning and sanitation equipment efficiently.
- Experience using forklifts to move and stack materials safely.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
